Turn Brief Conversations Into Teaching Opportunities
New this month, we have added 18 sample scenarios on a wide range of topics to TeachingPhysician.org. These scenarios illustrate typical conversations between a preceptor and a medical student following a patient interaction. Precepting conversations like these provide an opportunity to maximize clinical efficiency while enhancing the learning experience for your students.
As you read the scenarios, pay special attention to what the medical student is saying and how the preceptor responds, often by asking another question. The conversations demonstrate many different ways to incorporate teaching in a precepting conversation. Find a full list of these scenarios here.
Some of the topics covered by these sample conversations include:
- The Talkative Patient With Many Symptoms
- First Diagnosis of Hypertension
- The Rewards of Teaching Chronic Headache
