Ensure Your Learners Recognize Feedback
For feedback to be effective, learners must understand the feedback given and develop a plan to implement this feedback. When giving feedback, it's key to assess learner understanding so that you can help them interpret and apply the information appropriately.
Surprisingly often, learners may not recognize when they are receiving the feedback that they desire and you want to share. You can clarify this by setting the stage and clearly stating to your learners when you are giving feedback.
Next, you may want to have your learners restate the feedback you've shared so that you both know that everything has been clearly understood. You can explain to your learners that this will help them to develop an actionable plan for achieving their own learning goals.
